1. Tell us about the history of the label.

Mile End Records came together in 2005 when myself and Patrick Dream who co-founded Bombay records came together and were looking for a new challenge. He had recently sold his shares in Bombay to his partner and I had recently helped launch MIXart studios in Montreal. 

2. Did you find success immediately?

In our first year we mixed and recorded Arcade Fire who went on to receive their first 2 Grammy nominations - best new artist and best song in a TV show ( 6 feet under). I wanted to produce and release house music but not be pigeon holed into a genre of music. I found people so hung up on labeling themselves into ever increasing genres and sub genres. 

3. How do you describe your sound?

House music is always evolving and taking in and absoring influences, I wanted our music to be open to these different styles. That being said after 7 years we have definitely settled into and developed our sound. Wether you call it house , deep house , tech house or techno - there is an underlying consistent ingredient in our music - which is to make you dance. It has to have a groove, a funky bass line , soul, music that makes you shake your ass! 

4. What artists can we expect to see? 

We have had recent releases from Roy Davis jr, Angel Moraes , Chus & Ceballos, Darius Syrsossian, Hector Couto, D Formation, Ralphi Rosario , Celeda , Honey Dijon. This past summer "My Side Project" by UK's Darius Syrossian  has remained on Beatport top 100 for 3 months. 

We will be releasing a full length artist album by Roy Davis jr. early next year. A single with Kenny Summit, As well as two big releases that include Tiger Stripes and Brett Johnson.
